2024: Chess Conventional and High-Energy Spectroscopies for Inorganic, Organic and Biomolecular Surfaces and Interfaces.

12-16 February 2024, Centro Paolo VI, Brescia

Early bird registration deadline01 december 2023

Expected registration fee: 500 € (includes registration, coffee breaks, lunches, social dinner and one bed in a double room – 4 nights)

Poster session: YES! With poster prizes…

You will learn basic and applied concepts of several spectroscopies to study (reactive) surfaces.

Schools teachers will be available to support you with advices on the specific topic of your interest.

The School on CONVENTIONAL AND HIGH-ENERGY SPECTROSCOPIES FOR INORGANIC, ORGANIC AND BIOMOLECULAR SURFACES AND INTERFACES is focused on the spectroscopic and morphological characterization of surfaces and solid interfaces of any possible composition. A number of instrumental techniques is presented by experts in the field.

The first day provides an overview on the properties of surfaces and on the most diffused spectroscopies and microscopies for surface analysis.

The second day gives an overview on spatially resolved microscopies and spectroscopies and on the study of surfaces of industrial interest.

The third day introduces X-ray / matter interactions and the main deriving techniques, particularly X-ray fluorescence. A poster session, with best poster awards, will be scheduled in the afternoon.

On Thursday and Friday, synchrotron facilities and related spectroscopies are discussed and a special attention is paid at encouraging non expert users to apply for having access to synchrotron spectroscopies / beam-lines.

Audience: the target audience of this School is preferably composed by PhD students and young researchers.

Certificates and exams: a certificate of attendance will be provided to all of the participants to the School. Moreover, a final exam will be available for those students who are requested by their Institution to take it.
