Colloid and surface science is a core subject of physical chemistry. In the last decades it has revolutionized people daily life for its impressive impact on the development of innovative products and processes. CSGI researchers operate in several scientific areas; among others it is worth mentioning: structure and dynamics of amphipilic supramolecular assemblies (monolayers, micelles, bilayer vesicles, microemulsions, Langmuir-Blodgett films, host-guest systems), nanostructured soft and hard materials, structural analysis of biomolecules in solution, interaction processes, recognition of ligands with macromolecular surfaces, formulation of nanophasic systems. Such activities impact on different technological fields including: conservation of cultural heritage, cement industry, food chemistry, advanced, metal and ceramics, nanomedicine and pharmaceutics, biotech and environment.
