Studying the occurrence and fate of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and Emerging Organic Compounds (EOCs) in wastewater treatment plants.
Development of analytical methods to separate and analyse POPs and EOCs in environmental matrices.
Studying the levels and fate of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in indoor and outdoor environments.
Development of CSIA protocol procedures for tracing organic contaminant sources and processes.
Contribution in understanding the long-range transport and fate of POPs (i.e. PCBs, PBDEs, chlorinated pesticides, PAHs) especially in remote marine environments, such as Antarctica.
Transport, distribution and accumulation mechanisms of organic compounds in organisms.
Effects of POPs in human health and biota
Characterization and source apportionment of the organic content of PM10 and PM2.5 in remote and urban areas.
Separation of chiral enantiomers by reversed-phase (RP)-thin layer chromatography (TLC) on new stationary phases.
