Apr 1998: Degree in Chemistry, at the University of Florence (110 cum laude/110). Title: "Supra-molecular Structures from Calixarenes in Host-Guest systems".

1998-1999: CSGI fellowship (JOULE Project) on "Development of a Bio-Crude-Oil/Diesel Emulsion".

1998-2001: PhD in Chemical Sciences at the University of Florence. Title: "On the Role of Water and Additives in the Hydration of Portland Cement: a Neutron and X-Ray Scattering Study". Advisor: Prof. P. Baglioni (University of Florence); co-advisor: Prof. S.H. Chen (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
